Patriots draft preview - Rounds 4-7
That is a wrap on day two and dare I say…the Patriots are kind of nailing this?
We picked up three potential studs to help Drake unlock his full potential as the greatest athlete to ever exist and ALL OF THEM came from the Fatty Liver big board.
Not saying the Patriots brass is reading this blog but I didn’t do this last year and everyone we picked (save for Drake) sucked.
Let’s break down our three new Pats and preview a massive pool of options for Day 3.
My reaction - Day 2 picks
Pick #38 — TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State
Hell. yes. I had Luther Burden III as my ideal pick in this spot but that was more to do with team need than anything. Henderson followed close behind as more of a luxury item. He’s like buying a Rolex when you can’t pay your mortgage and I mean that in the best way possible (I’m terrible with money). I mean just look at the burst on this guy:
Here’s what I said about him in yesterday’s write-up:
He’s my second ranked running back on the board behind Jeanty. Omarion Hampton got stymied by BC which means he sucks forever, sorry I don’t make the rules. I’ve wanted him on the Patriots for the better part of three years. I once lost $100 betting on him to win the Heisman (got hurt immediately). This is a text of mine from December when he was lighting up the CFP:
Henderson is an absolute game breaker and a premier home run hitter. Love this pick.
Draft grade: A
Pick #69 (lmao) — Kyle Williams
Criminal that we didn’t let Gronk announce this pick but whatever. The Patriots had a #nice pickup with Kyle Williams, a speedy WR out of Washington State and yet another member of the Fatty Liver Big Board:
As I said, this guy has been a big riser in the draft process and for good reason. He is an absolute burner, a YAC monster, and, most importantly, a pure route runner and separator which we are DESPERATE for. If the draft process had gone on another 3 months, he would have been early round 2 no question. Just a matter of more teams becoming familiar with him. Peep the speed and be amazed:
No way he still should have been on the board. Put Vrabel in jail for theft.
Draft grade: A
Pick #77 —> Pick #85 —> Pick #95 — Jared Wilson, C, Georgia
After a touching tribute to Bill Belichick with a couple trade backs, the Patriots still landed their guy and yet ANOTHER Fatty Liver big boarder in Georgia center Jared Wilson:
I am however crazy about the best center in the draft at #95. He’s fairly raw having only one real year of college football experience but he kept his QB clean and will have time to develop behind Bradbury if needed. This kid is an athletic freak also:
Not fucking bad.
Draft grade: A+
Overall this was a phenomenal day for the Patriots. You never know who’s going to pan out, but it’s fair to be excited and optimistic after securing three of the drafts premier athletes. Oh and I called three picks exactly NBD.
